Employ acquires Pillar to strengthen its AI hiring stack
Source: Staffing Industry Analysts · Mar 2, 2025
Employ Inc., the applicant-tracking-system parent company behind JazzHR, Jobvite, and NXTThing RPO, has acquired structured-interview-intelligence platform Pillar to strengthen its AI hiring stack. Terms weren't disclosed, and Employ is retaining the Pillar brand rather than folding it in and renaming it — a sign it's treating this as adding a discrete capability to a portfolio rather than replacing something it was missing entirely.
Employ's scale matters here: roughly 23,000 customers across its ATS brands means Pillar's structured-interview technology now has a distribution channel most standalone interview platforms would need years to build organically. That's the same pattern as the BrightHire/Zoom deal — an ATS or communications incumbent buying its way into interview-intelligence capability rather than building it in-house, at a moment when the category has matured enough to be acquisition-ready.
